Sunrise in the Sahara Desert

My trip to Morocco has came to an end, it was surprisingly wonderful and I had some of the most unforgettable moments of my life.

My family and I took a trip from Marrakesh to Zagora, a place close to the Sahara desert. It was an extremely long drive, we saw many interesting things during our journey: the constant change of the landscape – from forest to rocky ragged mountains, to ancient villages in the valley to sandy grounds. I definitely felt the increasing temperature as we drove closer and closer to the desert.
We arrived at the desert at sunset after an hour and half camel ride to our ‘hotel‘ of the night, that being the camps provided by the local. I’ve never been a fan of camping nor have I ever camped in my life, admittedly I was pretty wary of the idea of spending one night in the desert. To my surprise, however, the camp site was well kept, four beds were provided in each with washing facilities plus a toilet that flushes (sometimes we take these things for granted). The evening ended with a rather exceptional meal (probably much better than what you would normally expect the locals to provide in the desert), the main dish was one of Moroccans’ favourite – Beef Tajine served with Moroccan bread! ( beef stew with potatoes/pepper/courgette/olives). Then… we danced the night away around the camp fire!

My Sunday: keep calm and drink green tea

The weather was rather windy last night, I couldn’t go to sleep at all and entertained myself by reading a legal magazine. Ah. The life of a law student! This morning I forced myself to go for breakfast, the most important meal of the day of course.  I really cannot wait for summer to come, starting to work on my travel journal again and telling you guys about my journey.

I’m going to spend the whole day working since I have done a lot of procrastination lately. Is it just me who go through phrases from -one week productive to unproductive the next??

End of the term panic: Deadlines, Christmas, Trip to China !

Is it just me having the ‘panic moment’ every December of every year? Once again, my Law course at University has coming to an end.. the only way to describe it: TOUGH WORK & SLEEP DEPRIVED.

It has been tough balancing the workload that the tutors throw at you, not to mention the amount of reading plus extra reading required to succeed. Simply, sometimes there isn’t enough time in the day to complete the reading (according to personal experience). Although having ranted about the intensity of this challenging degree; meanwhile I absolutely enjoy many aspects of the law can offer like no other degrees! Its areas of uncertainty which requires you to find out about in much more depth, the ‘blonde moment’ you feel when it comes to something you do not understand in your readings/ lectures, which then motivates you to look into it later… the list goes on. The important thing is that after the hard work, the swotting, the panicking, the potential near breakdown stage. You find yourself ‘click’ all suddenly then the feeling of accomplishment overwhelms you comes right after!

I’ve been working on my essays to meet the deadline due next week, pretty much preoccupied me most of this week. My break was to simply shop online and order christmas presents for family, boyfriends etc. ( nice time management!) Ok, I did have a panic moment yesterday when the realisation of not being access to Google when I jet off to China this time next week, which means I can not do my research for my holiday project/ along with various other essays that I need to given in January! THIS MOMENT OF : GOD. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!?!!? Luckily I’ve come down. Downloading every documents I need onto my laptop shall commence this evening. ASAP.

I have 5 days to figure out what exactly should I bring to North Eastern China at this time of the year, last time I heard it’s minus ten degrees. God. Let’s hope I don’t freeze to death

A Kind Of Faux Fur Obsession

It’s getting cold outside, nothing beats the chill than faux fur! The first one was a gift from my boyfriend, it’s my early Christmas present ( I demanded it to receive them earlier this year because once again I will me making another trip to China next week! I heard it’s minus ten degrees currently… need to be prepared!) The second coat I bought it when I attended the Student Lock In event earlier this semester.
I love them because they are super chic, either be dressed up at formal/parties or just with casual outfit on a cold day. They are worth the investment!

New In

This morning started off with me got up a little later than usual, which means that I had to skip breakfast and run for my 9 o’clock lectures. Thankfully, the lecture theatre is no too  very far from my hall. Oh and I picked up my four parcels from reception and was so super excited to open them!

I bought some anti- blemish foundation from Clinique, having had my lucky trail sample from them. I really loved it! It was perfect for my combination skin, going to use it when I need cover up. I shall do another post about all the products in the gift box later.  FINALLY, I NOW OWN A PAIR OF HEADPHONES ( the one I’ve been using came from my mobile phone, just those small ones you get with it.. nothing special) But I’m one of those people who prefer listening to music when I work and I prefer the headphones with more padding, frankly, when you work 10 hours a day with headphones in, your ears would end up pretty sore!

Workaholic, Foodie, Shopaholic – what I did in the last 4 weeks

Been a month since my last update, it’s natural that my blog feels a bit neglected! I don’t know whether any of you students out there feel the same but the weeks literally fly at University? Literally! So much work, so little time.

Apart from me being a workaholic on a daily basis, I’ve been going on many dinner dates around Cardiff with my boyfriend, we are such foodies! Many of regular readers would know that my favourite is this Mexican restaurant called Chimichanga, they have recently refurbished the place… my favourite Aztec decorations had been replaced by a much more authentic festival decoration… although I don’t know whether they did it because Christmas in a month time? But, if you get a chance to visit please check it out and try their dessert Churros or Sangria… or Both!!

Mmmm… getting a little carried away there! Surprisingly, dining out is perhaps the biggest expense so far in my “pretend” budget( I feel like I have to call it a budget since I am a student after all). admittedly I have been good with online shopping… at least to my standard. Below are my purchases of the month.

My beloved Dior perfume is running out so I decided to try out a relatively cheap alternative scent by Vinnie Westwood called Cheeky Alice, the scent is not very strong compare to others and the after note is a light floral, sandalwood scent, I love it! Definitely recommend it!

Sunday & Start of year one at Cardiff university

Yesterday I woke up with a terrible sore throat, now it’s a mild cold. not surprised. But nothing will dampen my spirit because my parents will be coming to visit me today! hehe the advantages of parents living close by. We plan to go for a sit down meal today as a family and mum will probably bring some of my winter clothes as well. I feel like I’ve settled down properly now, despite the fact that my room is right next to a shared toilet which can get noisy at night. However, I’ve overcome this and had plenty good sleeps lately!
Tomorrow I will be starting my first semester and my first day being a law student! It’s exciting… Even though my lecture starts at 9:00. But seriously I finally feel like for once I can do the things I want to (academically) and something which is useful to my future! I have to make sure to update this blog often for my dearest readers, like I said this is a platform for me to write about my feelings and also a record of my life experiences as an undergraduate student as well as a passionate traveller!
