Summer 2014 has been wonderful so far, I’ve been on various trips which can be counted as some of the amazing experiences of my life so far. Besides all the travelling, I hope to receive my driving license before I move back to uni, as I found myself preoccupied with a fairly intensive driving course and having passed my driving theory test not so long ago! PHEW. so fingers crossed.
In my spare time, as you probably know I hopped on the train and commuted frequently to Cardiff. HOW I MISS THAT CITY. As I am trying to find out the perfect place for afternoon tea, Pettigrew Tea Rooms is located in the beautiful Bute Park at the city center by the Cardiff Castle (some pictures of the park can be found HERE). It has been rated the top tearoom in Cardiff, so being a foodie like myself couldn’t resist the temptation. Last week I also discovered an organic food/bar called Milgi. Being a huge fan of healthy and organic products, I stopped by on a Friday night which was surprisingly busy for a bar of its size on City road. What I loved about the place is that not only it has the eco-feel reflected in its interior design as well as the mugs/cups of the drinks it serves but also it’s a relatively quiet place to enjoy drinks between friends and family as opposed to the main stream pubs/clubs which are pretty rowdy on weekend. Places like these are hard to find these days.
The Colour Festival came to Cardiff last Saturday, it was great fun! I’ve always wanted to take part in Holi festival ever since I studied Hinduism, it’s a great spirit to have fun with paint powders with friends and family and a great end to mark my final day of university.

Officially the end of the term, how time flies! I have finally completed my first year in Law school. The whole experience would be described as the most challenging, emotional, crazy & fun! As I finished packing and returned my keys back to the residence’s office, I felt an overwhelming emotion. Sad, for saying goodbye to all of the friends I made at university ( particularly it would be rather strange not seeing all of my crazy flatmates around and our weekend cookery sessions which usually turn into a disaster then a huge clean up session followed right after). Of course the freedom of living on my own! Yet again, as I should probably make another announcement, I am super excited for my upcoming trips this summer.
First destination: Rhodes Island, Greece. Great pictures and travel tips will be posted!
Been a month since my last update, it’s natural that my blog feels a bit neglected! I don’t know whether any of you students out there feel the same but the weeks literally fly at University? Literally! So much work, so little time.
Apart from me being a workaholic on a daily basis, I’ve been going on many dinner dates around Cardiff with my boyfriend, we are such foodies! Many of regular readers would know that my favourite is this Mexican restaurant called Chimichanga, they have recently refurbished the place… my favourite Aztec decorations had been replaced by a much more authentic festival decoration… although I don’t know whether they did it because Christmas in a month time? But, if you get a chance to visit please check it out and try their dessert Churros or Sangria… or Both!!
Mmmm… getting a little carried away there! Surprisingly, dining out is perhaps the biggest expense so far in my “pretend” budget( I feel like I have to call it a budget since I am a student after all). admittedly I have been good with online shopping… at least to my standard. Below are my purchases of the month.
My beloved Dior perfume is running out so I decided to try out a relatively cheap alternative scent by Vinnie Westwood called Cheeky Alice, the scent is not very strong compare to others and the after note is a light floral, sandalwood scent, I love it! Definitely recommend it!
So freshers officially ended on Sunday, Cardiff university organised a Freshers Ball which I attended and also left considerably early from it because I had 9:00 lectures the day after. I had fun, mainly because of I love getting dressed up in fancier clothes than usual and the feeling of being VIP.
Time flies, it’s true, I’m no longer a fresher but somehow I still became a victim of the so called ‘Freshers Flu.’ Today in lectures, it sounded like 200 people were coughing at the same time, almost drowned out the voice of the lecturer! Surprisingly I really enjoy the lectures and tutorial sessions so far, which is a good start right? 😉 Today has been a little hectic than usual, 4 lectures in total starting at 9 this morning and tonight I have a Latin dance social to attend! I CAN’T WAIT TO START DANCING. ( for any of you who don’t know, I did ballroom/latin dance for 5 years! It’s something I’ve always been passionate about… besides travelling of course.)
Oh I also need to take pictures of the campus of Cardiff University for you guys, it’s so pretty here! Stay tuned.
Yesterday I woke up with a terrible sore throat, now it’s a mild cold. not surprised. But nothing will dampen my spirit because my parents will be coming to visit me today! hehe the advantages of parents living close by. We plan to go for a sit down meal today as a family and mum will probably bring some of my winter clothes as well. I feel like I’ve settled down properly now, despite the fact that my room is right next to a shared toilet which can get noisy at night. However, I’ve overcome this and had plenty good sleeps lately!
Tomorrow I will be starting my first semester and my first day being a law student! It’s exciting… Even though my lecture starts at 9:00. But seriously I finally feel like for once I can do the things I want to (academically) and something which is useful to my future! I have to make sure to update this blog often for my dearest readers, like I said this is a platform for me to write about my feelings and also a record of my life experiences as an undergraduate student as well as a passionate traveller!
Today started by missing my breakfast served at 8:00 am, ok I can explain, I was out with friends in the Student Union pub because it was one of my friends’ birthday. She finally came to Cardiff to meet us from her busy life being ‘a broke arty-student-on-foudation-course-without-funding’. Of course, it was so nice meeting her and I was pretty overwhelmed by the feeling of meeting up with an old friend! Like any other students, so during freshers week, I have so many enrolment events, welcome talks etc to attend… but guess what?! earlier, there was an email alert and yes a fellow WP blogger – overpackedandunderpaid had nominated me for my very first One Lovely Blog Award! BIG THANK YOU!
According to the rules attached to this award, I now have to share 7 facts about me, so here it is! Also I need to nominate 7 other bloggers, shall be announcing it tomorrow! Stay tuned!
